National Kitchen by Violet Oon

Housed in the iconic National Gallery, this is a really slick space offering traditional Nyonyan cuisine by one of the grande dames of Singaporean cooking.

This is one of our top picks for visitors to Singapore wanting to try some of the region’s best culinary flavours. Helmed by local Celebrity Chef Violet Oon, National Kitchen is a celebration of Singapore’s colourful and diverse cuisine in a gorgeous formal space that brings together Peranakan heritage, restored colonial decor, and touches of local history.

The menu showcases local and Peranakan dishes made the old-fashioned way, and features a good selection for vegetarians as well. The cocktails are excellent too, and again feature flavours from the region.

If you’re in the mood for al-fresco dining, head out to the terracce for some pretty spectaculor sweeping views of Singapore’s skyline, and enjoy their divine cocktails and small bar bites.

A solid choice, perfect for a cultural day out with guests.
