Not only might this just be Singapore’s most Instagramable new spot, but everything about Merci Marcel is on point. Located next to Tiong Bahru Bakery on Eng Hoon Street, this sweet cafe is all about quality and fair trade (which if you don’t know by now we LOVE). With the exception of the coffee, which is roasted locally by Tiong Hoe every Tuesday morning, most of the produce is sourced directly from France or from ethical, artisan producers.
Merci Marcel opens early at 8am, serving up fabulous coffee with a French style breakfast menu complete with fresh croissants and organic eggs. As the sun gets higher, the menu evolves to day time French fare, with lighter salad options and traditional heavier classics like the Smoked Salmon Bretzel, Beef Tenderloin Carpaccio and a divine Tarte Flambée.
At night, the menu moves to creative French plates that are made for sharing. Start with Marinated Crab Rilletes or the Goats Cheese Tartar, then extend the pleasure with Pork Tenderloin with caramelized onions and ginger and the Pan Seared Hokkaido scallops.
Cheese lovers will revel in the exclusive cheese sharing plates menu which, paired with a chilled boutique French wine, make the perfect end to any day! All the wines at Merci Marcel are sourced directly from boutique French vineyards, and these guys even ship them directly as another quality control measure. The cocktail list is pretty fab too.
The sweet ambiance, the authentic French waiter and the focus on high quality produce make this one of our new faves on the Tiong Bahru dining scene!
