Birds of a Feather

The kind of place where conversation turns to the food. Fine dining in Amoy in an effortlessly cool, casual and highly instagrammable space.

Hands down one of our favourite spots in town at the moment. Killing it all day and night in Amoy Street, this is a super cool hidden gem nestled within a neighbourhood throbbing with world-class hidden laneway spots.

The dishes, the drinks, the service – the quality is fine dining, but the atmosphere is cool, comfortable and intimate, and it all flows without the feeling of trying too hard.

But to the food. It is freaking good. European flavours twisted with a Japanese influence that hits the mark unlike so many doing the “Asian fusion” thing these days. The menu standouts are the Crispy Gyoza with Truffle Soy Vinaigrette and Crispy Chicken Winglets to start, followed up with the Xiang Su Duck and the Hong Shao Short Ribs.

The space is fresh, achieving a perfect harmony of stone and greenery, with plush comfortable lounge-style seating that just make you want to settle in for the night. If you’re in the mood to chat, eat at the bar. The stools are comfy and high backed, and the barmen are the kind that are born to do what they do – tell them what you like and they’ll go one better.

During the day this is also a solid contender for a great coffee or trendy business lunch.

Foodies, definitely one to add to your list.
